My Work Routine Got Completely Derailed by Kids — Here’s Why I Stopped Trying to “Fix” It
A real, family-first breakdown of how I run my business and creator workflow while raising two young kids. This blog supports my latest YouTube video on why traditional entrepreneur routines fall apart for parents — and how to build a flexible, intentional routine that actually works.

My Work Routine Got Completely Derailed by Kids — Here’s Why I Stopped Trying to “Fix” It
Most entrepreneur morning routines fall apart the second you have kids.
Don’t get me wrong — a 5 a.m. cold plunge, 30 minutes of journaling, and a color-coded calendar sounds great. It even worked for me years ago when life was simple, quiet, and my only responsibility was… me.
But the moment you become a parent?
The whole system collapses.
Kids get sick.
Kids need you mid-task.
Naptimes shift.
Energy changes.
And suddenly the rigid routine you built your identity on doesn’t match your reality anymore.
In my newest YouTube video, I break down what my routine actually looks like now as a dad, a husband, and a full-time creator — and why trying to force a “perfect” routine almost made me less productive, not more.

The Problem With Traditional Entrepreneur Routines
Most productivity advice online is built for a life without kids:
No interruptions
No random schedule changes
No emotional load
No shared responsibilities
No unpredictability
But parenthood rewrites every system you once relied on.
In the video, I share something I rarely hear creators talk about:
Your time isn’t just yours anymore — it belongs to your family too.
And instead of fighting it, I built a routine that works with that reality.
This shift is the reason I’ve stayed present with my kids and consistent in my business.
My Family-First, Business-Second Structure
I don’t wake up at 4 a.m.
I don’t cram my calendar with back-to-back blocks.
I don’t pretend I can out-discipline life with toddlers.
Instead, I follow principles, not rigid schedules.
1. My deep work happens at night
This is when the house is quiet, my mind is sharp, and there are no interruptions.
From around 11 p.m. to 5–7 a.m. :
Write scripts
Edit videos
Build client strategies
Shoot B-roll
Plan content
Work on our marketing company
This is my flow state.
2. Daytime is for real life
During the day?
Noise.
Messages.
Errands.
Kids needing attention.
Fires to put out.
Everything everywhere all at once.
So I avoid checking client messages when I’m recording, editing, or with the kids.
The only exception is my wife.
Family comes first every time.
3. Boundaries keep my business healthy
If a client or brand can’t respect family time, we’re not a fit.
I learned long ago: people respect your time only when you do.
Running a Creative Business With Toddlers in the House
I run a marketing company from home.
We have a 2-year-old and a 3-month-old.
And yes — they are in my videos, behind my videos, and shaping the way my videos get made.
My oldest son has become part of the creative process:
He helps adjust framing
He checks audio with me
He gives me cues when something’s off
He watches the screen like a tiny assistant director
He raises his hand when the camera stops recording
Watching him fall in love with photography and videography has become one of the best parts of being a creator-dad.
This isn’t a distraction — it’s part of the work now.
Your Routine Doesn’t Need More Hours — It Needs More Intention
When you’re building a business and a family, you get hit with the same pressure from both worlds:
“You need to grind more.”
“You need to be more present.”
“You need to do it all perfectly.”
But the truth is…
You don’t need more hours.
You need intentional hours.
The whole point of entrepreneurship, at least for me, is to build a life around the people I love — not to build a business that costs me those moments.
My routine isn’t optimized for maximum output.
It’s optimized for our life.
